All of the completes on the site have been set up to be era correct, and in the case where it is a pro or signature model, I have set the board up with the same components as that skater rode back in the day. For example-check the Brad Bowman superman, BB rode for Indy and used sims conicals on that model. Or this Caster-Chris Strople series V, Chris always colour matched his equipment where possible, he rode for Tracker, then Indy, so it is only natural that this pig board is set up with Trackers and blue sims conicals. Or even something obscure like the Turningpoint madness board, Shredi Repas rode for Turningpoint and rode that particular model and was sponsored by Tracker trucks and Sunspots wheels, hence that configuration.

Alva Lite beam - Tracker extracks, Alva naturals - My favourite of all the Alva boards, this board is super rare and is in pretty much in mint condition, it has pizza grip, Alva cushions and has been a quest since 1980, now I can strike it off the list. This was pretty much in direct competition to the Powell Peralta Beamer, DT Shogo Kubo airbeam, DT Muir litebeam and Kryptonics Malba and Salba K-Beams of the same era. This was Alva's answer, 5 ply deck with two beams reinforcing the weaker sections. - 1980 |

Blind Mark Gonzales Mark "Gonz" Gonzales (skull and banana) This was a direct piss take of the Ray "bones" Rodriquez graphic from 1979. This was an era in skateboarding when the "small companies" were getting ripped on about being "small". Blind copied the Powell Peralta graphics and vintage advert and made it their own, they soon realized that by changing a small amount of any existing graphic or logo made you the new owner of that picture. With the Caster listings, each board was either made with two added fibreglass sheets (under the first top and first bottom sheets of ply) or made without fibreglass and just plain Canadian maple, the ones without fibreglass were stamped under the back truck with an S and the fibreglass epoxy models were stamped with an F. Dig the Caster, gullwing team and Southern hemisphere skatepark shirts. Check the Caster stickers and the Warranty card back and front. |

Caster Bigfoot - 9 1/2" wide x 30 1/2" Fibreglass epoxy model. This was given to me recently by a Skatopia rider Brent Neighbour. He told me this was one of Grant Macredie's boards, he was Grant's neighbour and inherited a lot of Grant's old gear, this has all the hallmarks and stickers of one of Grant's boards and bears "rock n roll slide" evidence of a regular footer, this board was about the time when Chris Strople visited and taught him the "rock n slide". This board is exactly how he rode it with gullwing 8's and wings single conicals. - 1979 Grant was the only Kiwi to grace the cover Skateboarder Magazine. |

Condor range of colours, take your pick from this line up, some have condor parts, others have been changed and have Cadillac's or slick's or fat's, the transparent green one on the far right was Shirley Strachans when he skated during the early 70's, here is his solo album from 1980. He died tragically in a chopper accident and was the lead singer for the "Skyhooks" a 70's aussie band. These boards were the equivalent to the US GT Grentec, a classic Australasian skateboard. Hobie
Mike Weed Fibreglass prototype – undrilled-1977. This was given to me
by Chris Strople, Mike Weed gave it to him in 1977. He just put a Caster
sticker on it and put it away until he dusted it off recently. It is
foam/fibreglass and was done way before anyone else was doing this for
vertical. It has raised up sections so that riser pads aren’t necessary
or only a ¼” if you need it and the rocker design of this board is
typical for Hobie boards of this era. |

Kryptonics 10.75" - foam/fibreglass Independent trucks, Kryptonics CX66 - Back in an era when boards were getting heavier because of the width increase of the trucks and wheels, this was Kryptonics answer to saving weight, incorporating foam and fibreglass into the construction, then wrapping the board in a rubber bumper to protect it from damage - 1980 |

Kryptonics 8 - foam/fibreglass ACS lites, Kryptonics 70mm - This was evolutionary for a time when all decks were either made of wood, aluminium or fibreglass, this was the first release of the foam/fibreglass series from Kryptonics, this one is sweet and has the green rubber bumper surround, such a sweet set up and weighs next to nothing compared to its wooden opposition for the time. - 1978 |

Kryptonics Micke Alba - top of deck. |

Kryptonics Steve Alba - K-beam - Independent trucks, CX65's Kryptos - Both Steve's and Micke's K-Beam models had five plys with thicker vertical plys through the centre of the deck which reinforced the weak points of the deck, the bottom tar paper and plywood would wrap around the thicker beam section of the deck. Awesome craftsmanship and innovation, this again was a weight saving approach to board construction. - 1979 |

Midgett Farrelly - Standard trucks (double base plates for wheel base option) ceramic wheels, open bearings. This one was donated to me by Leonard Turnbull, he is a very cool guy, here is his story: Check the pic of him with the board. In 1965, Australian surfer, Midget Farrelly, won the world surfing championship. By the end of the following year his name was appearing on surfing apparel and equipment. For a 14 year old at the time, the most desired Midget endorsed product was a very stylish, timber decked, skateboard. In the mid-sixties there were not
many good skateboards available. While most were not very good quality and
either broke easily, or did not turn … the Midget was the one to have!
This particular board was bought from Ray Richards Surf Shop in This particular Farrelly
skateboard had a very hard life skating around the concrete slabs and
pathways of schools and footpaths in the town of The yellow stripe on this board was applied one summer afternoon with some pigment impregnated fibreglass resin that was left over from the monthly repair job on the owner’s surfboard. The look was pretty good for the time. However, the fibreglass refused to set and the board was unable to be ridden for days. The The wheels on this model always wore down very quickly and left blue streaks on the concrete whenever the rider could get the board to slide. This was fun, but at $2.00 for a set of two wheels, it was a very expensive activity. Every Friday evening during the Summer months, the ABC aired the Midget Farrelly Surf Show. Just on dusk, as the closing credits screened over images of Midget hanging five, many young men took their skateboards out to emulate their hero. This was just the inspiration needed for launching into a weekend of carving up the concrete … just as Midget intended. |

Powell Peralta Beamer Prototype - 1978 Tracker fultracks, Powell bones 64mm - This was one of Stacy's personal boards and was a prototype for the production model Beamer. This board features in the Beamer advert in skateboarder and Stacy's quiver shot in the December '78 issue featuring Steve Olson on the cover. This board is longer and narrower than the production models that were released and the bottom logos were screen printed instead of stickers and were oriented a different way, the beams are installed without rivets. This colour is much more vibrant than the production models. I am so stoked to have this skateboard, check out the pic of Stacey holding this board and a Zephyr that I got from him. The Beamer is also featured on this shirt, and the front. |

He learnt the trick a the Swedish Summer camp and released it to an unsuspecting public at the Del Mar contest in 1984, Tony Hawk still beat him but he won the best trick award. |

He invented so many tricks isolated in his parents barn in Florida and then unleashed them all to an unsuspecting audience at the Oasis skatepark in 1981, he beat all the freestyle legends at that time as a 12 year old and put his name into the history books, he beat his idol Steve Rocco. |

Tony kept skateboarding through these lean times, not many of these decks were produced and very few of them exist. |

Santa Cruz Duane Peters - Independents, Blackharts - Duane has always been one of my favourites, he, along with Steve Olson and Steve Alba introduced the Punk style and approach towards skateboarding and it rubbed off on the whole world. DP is responsible for the Indy air, Sweeper, Fakie Thruster, Layback rollout, invert revert and so many other tricks that he doesn't care about claiming, he also was the first to do the "el rollo" or the loop of death, in preparation for the skateboardmania shows in 1978. DP raises hell and many eyebrows when he skates, if you get a chance to see him skate, don't miss it. 1980. |
|
Santa Cruz Salba - Bevel - Independents, Blackharts - For it's time, this board was a freak, this was the first board to have real concave. The concave was so steep that the board needed rails in the middle, the lines of the concave are visible and clearly defined, these boards are super rare and hard to find any condition, I’m stoked to have this one, set up exactly how Salba rode it except for the rails in the middle of the board, Indy's and Blackharts. - 1980 |

Sims Bert Lamar - Tracker sixtracks, Sims the wheel - 1979 Bert busted onto the scene as a 12 year old kid and literally blew minds and started to win contests beating many of the seasoned pro's of the time. |
Sims Brad Bowman-Superman - Independent trucks, Sims snake conicals - 1979 Classic graphic, stylish skateboarder from the 70's, Bowman was perhaps one of the most photographed skateboarders from the late 70's. This board came from an era in skateboarding when manufacturers were experimenting with ways to reduce dead weight, Sims answer was to route the base and turn the dead weight into a functional grabbing area for aerials, etc. I met Brad at the OSSJ in 2001, he was taking pictures of all the pro's that turned up that night. |

Dave was in the DEVO "Freedom of Choice" music video and he aired the canyon in the upper keyhole at Marina Del ray. |

Sims Gregg Ayres - Tracker Fultracks, Sims snakes - 1978. This was Gregg's personal board, it is in his quiver shot from the December 1978 issue of Skateboarder Magazine. The board is the one sitting up on the wall on its side, the only difference is the addition of the Skateboarder Magazine sticker above the Pipeline stickers. I am very happy to have this board, it was one of the prototypes for his model with the additional epoxy on the tail. These boards in any condition are super rare. |
